Croatian striker Mladen Petrić expressed his love to the city of Hamburg in an interview with Swiss newspaper ‘Goal’: “A great club, a superb stadium and a fantastic city, what more could you ask for?”. The 28-year-old seems to have forgotten all the rumors and news about his person and his heavy flirt with German Bundesliga champion VfL Wolfsburg.

Furthermore Petrić added “There are beautiful buildings in the city, great restaurants and Hamburg is simply a shopping-paradise”. Even the similarity to Zürich, the town Petrić was born and raised and where he would like to live after he quitted his career, is a big plus for the 1,85m tall marksman: “Maybe it’s the flair which reminds me so much of Zürich”.

Hopefully Mladen will stop see things through rose-colored when the Bundesliga will kick-off into the 2009/10 season and score more beauties like in the video below…

*Update
Thanks to Kat Ryan who corrected me: Mladen Petrić was born in Dubrave and first moved with his family to Vinkovci due to war and then later to Neuenhof, Switzerland, where he started to play football at the local club FC Neuenhof before moving to FC Baden and starting his professional career at the club in the summer of 1998. He left Baden after one season and went on to sign with Grasshopper-Club Zürich in the summer of 1999. I’m sorry!
